Welcome to Myanmar
     Myanmar, which the British called Burma, is the largest country in Southeast Asia. It has a colorful diversity of ethnic groups partially due to its position as a crossroad of Chinese and Indian civilizations. It has temples on mountains, unique religions that are found nowhere else, one of the world's great archeological sites and geographic features that range form Southeast Asia's highest mountain, to quiet beaches to tropical rainforests. The country is celebrating Visit Myanmar Year and has simplified formalities and travel for many visitors. There are, however, political considerations preventing entry for US citizens so the current situation should be examined before attempting a visit.
