Phetchabun, an ancient
city with several interesting and important places such as Wat Mahathat
and Si Thep Historical Park, has always proposed throughout her history.
At present, it is famous for the fertile land for cultivation. The
renowned fruit is sweet tamarind. Besides, there are various historical
and natural attracaions as we know from the motto of the province:
Sweet Tamarind City, Nam Nao National Park, Si Thep Ancient City,
Khao Kho Commemoration, Poh Khun Pha Muang City. Phetchabun located
in the lower northern part of Thailand, 346 kms. from Bangkok. It
has a total area of 12,668.416 sq.kms. or about, 7,917,760 rai. Geographical
The area is a plain surrounded by the hills. The main river passing
through the province is Pasak River. Climate Phetchabun has 3 seasons:
hot season, rainy season and cold season. |

Khao
Kho Memorial This memorial was built to worship bravery
of civilian, police and military who sacrifice their lives to
fight against guerrillas in the area of three provinces: Pitsanulok,
Phetchabun and Loei during 1978 to 1982. This memorial is situated
on the top of Khao Kho, it was built with marble in triangle
shape. The triangle shape means three cooperations of civilian,
police and military. |
Nam
Nao National Park The Nam Nao National Park is an
immense tract of forest still in perfect condition. With pineries,
grasslands and virgin jungles, it is habitat to large number
of animals and more than 100 species of birds. |
Si
Thep Historical Park Si
Thep city is situated 107 kms. from Phetchabun township area
on Phu Khae-Lomsak Road, 25 kms. from Amphoe Wichienburi where
an 8 kms. access road branches off on the left to Si Thep City
during the prosperous ancient Khmer period having a lot of archaeological
ruins and objects. The Park is open daily from 8.30-16.30 hrs.
Phu
Hin Rong Kla
Lom Sak District is the starting point to go to Phu Hin Rong
Kla to the west. As the route is quite steep, extreme care should
be exercised in driving.More...
