Uthai Thani
is situated in the lower part of the northern region of Thailand.
Recent excavations have indicated that this area was inhabited by
prehistoric people. There are several tourist attractions and places
of interst but because because the township area is far from the main
highway few visitors make the trip to this interesting province. Uthai
Thani occupies a total are of 6,730 square kilometers located 219
kms. from Bangkok. It is divided into 8 Amphoes (district); Muang
Uthai Thani, Nong Khayang, Nong Chang, Thap Than, Ban Rai, Sawang
Arom, Lan Sak and Huai Khot. |

Kha Khaeng Wildlife Preserve Area
cover Amphoe Lansak, Amphoe Banrai, Amphoe
Huai Kot of Uthai Thani province and Amphoe Umphang of Tak province,
with are area of 1,609,154 rai of 2,574 square kilometers. This
area was declared a world natural heritage site on December
13,1991. For a nature tour at Huai Kha Khaeng wildlife Preserve
Area, prior approval is necessary from the Wildlife Conservation
Division of The Forestry Department at P.O. Box 4 Amphoe Lansak,
Uthai Tahni province 61160.

Tak
Bat Thewo Fair at Wat Sangkat Rattanakhiri is
the most important event held around October. Hundreds of monks
residing within the Muang district walk down the steps from
the top of Khao Sakaekrang to accept food offerings from Buddhist
devotees who gather in the ground of the temple. The fair is
based on the traditional belief that the Lord Buddha on one
occasion returned to earth from heaven. More...
